PRAS: Probabilistic Resource Adequacy Suite
PRAS is a modeling suite developed by NREL that performs probabilistic resource adequacy assessments for power systems. It incorporates weather variability, generator outages, and demand uncertainty to estimate metrics such as loss of load expectation (LOLE). Users can explore how different resource portfolios and planning reserves affect reliability. The tool supports utilities, regulators, and researchers in planning and evaluating resource adequacy in an evolving grid with high renewable penetration.
