REopt
REopt is a techno-economic optimization platform developed by NREL that recommends optimal sizes and dispatch strategies for distributed energy resources including solar photovoltaics, wind turbines, batteries, and thermal technologies based on site specific load profiles, utility tariffs, and economic parameters. Accessible via a web interface and API, REopt allows users to model behind-the-meter systems at buildings or campuses to minimize costs, reduce emissions, and improve resilience. It can simulate grid outages to size microgrids, evaluate financial incentives, and compare technology configurations. REopt is widely used by federal agencies, commercial customers, and researchers for feasibility studies and microgrid design.
