5G Securely Energized and Resilient: Task 2 and 3 Progress Report

Publicly accessible License

5G Securely Energized and Resilient (5G-SER) is a project funded by US DOD OUSD RandE in which NREL (NREL) developed, implement, and tested a wireless 5G architecture integrated with power systems components to perform research on its capabilities to provide low-latency, security, and resilient controls for microgrid and distributed energy systems. This report provides a progress update on the completion of Tasks 2 and 3 focused on deploying the platform, understanding its security, and conducting initial tests for energy management capabilities. Remaining work include Task 4 for repeating some test scenarios with a full microgrid power system managed by 5G-enabled distributed controls.
