Regional Energy Deployment System
ReEDS is NREL's flagship capacity expansion model that simulates deployment of generation and transmission infrastructure across the continental United States. It incorporates resource availability, technology costs, policy constraints, and transmission limitations to project least-cost electricity mixes through 2050. The model produces regional projections for renewable and conventional technologies, emissions, and costs. Utilities, policymakers, and researchers use ReEDS to analyze the impacts of policies and technological advancements on the future power system.
