Geothermal Prospector
The Geothermal Prospector is an interactive map application developed by NREL to help users evaluate geothermal resource potential. It overlays geothermal resource layers such as heat flow, temperature at depth, hydrothermal reservoirs, and enhanced geothermal system favorability with infrastructure layers like transmission lines, roads, and land ownership. Users can query point specific data, calculate statistics for user drawn areas, and download data. The tool supports early-stage exploration by enabling site screening, comparing resource quality, and identifying locations that meet specific criteria for geothermal development.
